It definitely gets cold here in Ohio, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t schedule fun engagement sessions when it snows! I love meeting new couples and learning more about them before and during their shoot.
A great place for photos, especially with engagements, is the Maumee Bay State Park in Oregon, Ohio. This state park boasts a lot of great spots such as hiking trails, the boardwalk on the wetlands, the rocks along the pond, and the water on the lake. There’s a nearby nature center and wildlife area as well in case you need some more locations with which to choose. This state park is such a gem for any kind of photo session! I love shooting Ohio engagements (and even families) here!
We started Olivia and Jeffery’s engagement photos among the trees and near the lake. It was so cold that you could still see the recent snowfall on the ground and on the water as well. It really looked like Olivia and Jeffery were floating among the clouds!
After an outfit change, we took some more photos around the property. Olivia and Jeffery were so calm and natural in the front of the camera. When you think about it, every couple is a little nervous before their engagement session. It’s because they aren’t in front of a camera every day. As photographers, we just think of it as second nature because we are shooting with our camera all the time. However, I make sure that ALL of my clients know that I will be here to guide them all through their session! You never have to worry about posing or where to place your arms or hands. I will make sure you look perfect for your session!
Three tips to remember for your session:
- Relax and stay calm! 😌
- BE YOURSELF! I don’t want a different YOU, I want the person you are on a normal basis! 🤗
- Trust me! I see things in a creative way! If I tell you to put your hand a certain way and it feels weird to you – TRUST ME, it looks good! 😉 (if it looks odd, I’ll change it!)
- Don’t over think it! It’s just me with a camera, capturing YOU as YOU. Simple as that. ❤️
- HAVE FUN! 😝
