Congratulations to Kacey and Doug on their beautiful fall wedding at Pickwick Place in Bucyrus, Ohio! Their special day was a little unconventional, but each couple makes their wedding their own and no celebration is the same. Doug and Kacey chose a lovely time of year to say, “I do!” and I was honored to be a part of it! 🍂
A Pickwick Place Wedding Celebration
This sweet couple chose Pickwick Place for a fall ceremony and reception. If you have never been there, this location has three, beautiful brick buildings. The first one is “The Stalls” where you can buy local goods and support local businesses. The second building is called “The Loft”. This is where the ceremony and reception took place. The ground level has a long open chapel area where you can have an indoor wedding complete with handmade wooden benches. The second level above is for the reception and this room is rustic, boasting restored brick walls with rustic wooden floors. The third building is “The Market” and provides fresh, different kinds of produce from around the area and dependent on the season. This is a beautiful venue for an intimate wedding celebration.
Doug and Kacey have three lovely children. Which they made sure they were all included throughout the wedding day. 🧡 Kacey and Doug reached out to me to capture their wedding because Kacey’s family is good friends with my in-laws. Funny enough, Kacey’s dad and father-in-law are members of the volunteer fire department together!
A Family Oriented Wedding Day
Instead of the usual white or ivory gown that most brides chose for their wedding day, Kacey chose a sparkly black lace dress with a long train. She also chose to wear Vans instead of heels. (I love it!!) Why not be comfortable on your bid day?! 👌🏼 Kacey and Doug opted for a first look, which gave us more opportunities for bride and groom portraits. Kacey had a very sweet first look with her dad first though.
Liam, son of bride and groom, helped dad with a little surprise for his mom. Kacey was actually trying to get her son OUT of the room for the first look. However, what she didn’t know was, he was holding the present that he was about to hand to mom. So after their private first look, Liam passed over her gift from Doug. Boy was she surprised! Doug then gave all three children their own necklaces to wear for the wedding.
We went outside to shoot all of the portraits before the ceremony (which I LOVE shooting those outdoors – more natural light!). Their ceremony took place during the first weekend of daylight savings time. It was crucial to shoot as much as possible beforehand because Ohio gets very dark after four P.M.
Since Pickwick Place has those three beautiful brick buildings and a few other features outside, we decided to take Doug and Kacey outside one last time before that sun set. From the cute, old, vintage, green/teal truck to the front of “The Market” we got some great photos!
Thank you Doug and Kacey for asking me to be a part of your special fall wedding at Pickwick Place! I had a great time being your photographer and it was great to work with you both! If this wedding venue sounds like the perfect place to have your ceremony and reception, hit me up on my contact form so we can plan a date. 😉
