In the fall I had the opportunity to shoot this wonderful couple’s engagement session. Beautiful big barns, a pretty soybean field and nice weather!

For anyone that knows me, I’m a true farm girl at heart. I literally nerd out everytime i step foot on another farm. So when I get to shoot my amazing couples on farms, tractors, in the country, etc., I get pretty excited. Something about the old barn siding look, the vintage windows and the pretty crops (wow did I really just say that?!). 🤣

This engagement session was at the perfect time, the golden hours of the day. Those last few hours right before the sun sets. This time is best to shoot in because the sun is not right up in the sky, glaring down at our faces. Shooting in the bright sunlight can be hard! If you are planning for your engagement session with me, I always try to shoot during those golden hours! *check out that sun light that is wrapping about Kathryn’s head! BEAUTIFUL! 😍

NOW, don’t forget about good ole Daylight Savings time! If you want to do a winter engagement session, please remember that the golden hours in winter are different than summer! Summer is great because the sun stays out longer but in the winter, it doesn’t.

So future tip for brides: be mindful of the time change when you are not only planning your engagement session but also your wedding!
Brian and Kathryn, you two were great to work with. Thanks for smiling, doing silly prompts and letting me nerd out on another farm. Cannot wait to shoot your big day this September!
