If you’re a mom like me, you know how fast the first year goes for your child. One day they’re holding your finger all snuggled up in a blanket and the next they’re walking so fast it’s hard to catch up with them. A lot of parents will book a newborn photo session, but what about the other times during a child’s first year of life? This is where the importance of milestone portrait sessions comes into play.
As a parent, you may remember certain moments such as when your child learned how to crawl, sit or walk. Having a smartphone really helps with capturing those in between times. However, as your child gets older, it becomes harder to remember exactly what your child looked like at three, six, nine or even twelve months. Their facial expressions and personality change so quickly! I encourage all of my clients to schedule a year’s worth of milestone sessions with me so parents can enjoy watching their child grow while I’m behind the camera! 😉
I had the privilege of taking all of my niece’s milestone portraits! Emersyn Rose recently turned a year old and I’ve been there to shoot pictures of her, every three months. She is such a cute, little, chunky baby that my husband and I just adore. 🥰 From the indoor studio to the peach trees, Miss Emmie was a smiling machine! As a matter of fact, ALL of Kylie’s kids have been perfect models for me. ❤️
For those of you who do not know, I just LOVE kids! Everything from their smiles and giggles, and more importantly watching them learn new things are what I just love about photographing children. Watching a kid understand the concept of “common knowledge” that we know as adults is just amazing!
Be Sure to Print Your Photos
The best way to remember these moments is by taking pictures of them as they grow! I always encourage my clients to schedule milestone portraits with me. However, even if you can use your phone to take photos of your children at home, take them! 👏🏻 Just don’t forget to PRINT THEM! Your photos weren’t meant to stay on your computer or your phone! You don’t have to print all of them, but make sure you print some of them so you can always remember how little they were. I have some frames in my office and I don’t ever get rid of the older picture. Instead, I just put the new one on top. It’s a great little “reminder” of how cute and little they were when you go to change it, years later. 😏
Miss Emmie is already talking thanks to the popular program by Miss Rachel, walking like a champ, dancing like a pro and loves ALL food! In addition to taking some of Emmie’s one year pictures outside on the farm, we also included a studio session. When I say she loves ALL food, I’m not exaggerating. Instead of a traditional cake smash, her Paw Paw made her a special steak. 🥩We paired it with a bottle of A1, and she starting eating that like a champ, grabbing it with both hands! That a girl Emmie!
We have loved watching you grow Miss Emmie, and we cannot wait to love you and spoil you more as you get older! Happy (belated) Birthday sweet girl! 😘
