Another little guy’s birthday! 🎂 Shooting weddings is a blast for me, but man, smash cake sessions are just as fun! 😍 The mess, the cake, the smiles, and the photos that come along with…it’s all priceless.

They only turn 1 once, right?! So why not let them make a mess! 🤪 My favorite is when I get the face of, “You are LETTING me make a mess of this cake right now? You’re not yelling at me?!” 😆

It’s so interesting to see how each 1 year old smashes their cake differently. Some just poke at it, some destroy it, while others have no desire to touch it. One tip I want to give parents is, don’t be upset if your child doesn’t touch their smash cake the way you imagined. They them be free! 🙃 No matter what, I will still get great photos! And in the end, that’s all that matters. 😉

I will never force children to do something that they don’t want to do. Now, encourage them and or bribe them? Oh yeah, ABSOLUTELY! 😂 Fruit snacks work wonders 😝
