Melayna and Matt had a beautiful spring engagement session in Willard, Ohio! Melayna absolutely loves being among nature, so she planned exactly where to do their portraits together! A private property that used to be a old state route…which you can still see evidence of.

I actually met this sweet couple through another photographer friend. One of my dear second shooters that has helped me out with weddings recommended them for my services. Melayna and Matt met through Melayna’s brother. They have known each other for eight years and they have been dating for three years.

When the two of them got engaged, Matt was very well prepared for the proposal. He contacted a photographer and and set up a photo session on a river bank back in September. What Melayna thought were portraits of them with their new puppy was actually a set up for him to pop the question. She was completely surprised! Way to go Matt! 🙌🏼

Melayna planned their engagement photos outdoors in the good ‘ole Ohio nature. She found the perfect spot – a run down highway and pond that is now privately owned. We started off their engagement portraits on the run down highway, old State Route 99 that runs just north of Willard, Ohio. This road used to be very popular with high traffic. On this highway was a well aged, old bridge that was covered with green moss and grass. If Ohio weather would have been dry for us, we could’ve have gone underneath the bridge. However, we still got some beautiful portraits on this old bridge.

Melayna had another great spot picked out! The old pond was perfect for photos! The area was a little run down, but that’s okay! I always like some tall weeds to poke my camera through. 😉 There was also an old boat sitting on the side, an old wooden dock, which thankfully they were able to safely walk on it. We ended the session with a little twirl of dancing and a little bit of a surprise with Matt making a twirl as well LOL. *please enjoy those photos at the end of this post. 🤣
