When you’ve known someone for a few years, getting to photograph their wedding day hits a little differently. This was absolutely the case for Lauren and Jacob’s unforgettable celebration at The Octagon House, one of the newest and most unique wedding venues in Ohio. *Though…I shot it in a little bit different way. 😉
I’ve known Jacob for the past five years through my full-time job at Sunrise Cooperative. He came on board right after high school, and from the moment I met him, I was blown away by his professionalism, kindness, and work ethic. Has he worked his different roles at Sunrise, he become a good friend. Over the past 5 years I watched him grow from “a kid” just out of high school, to a young man who would marry the love of his life. Little did I know, I would be helping out on his big day. 📸
And then came Lauren who is outgoing, sweet, and always down for anything. I would always hear about “my Lauren” and what “my Lauren” and Jacob were up to recently. Never knew who this “my Lauren” was, but I’m so glad I finally got to meet her! ❤️ I adored working with her from the start! The two of them are such a perfect match, and photographing their wedding day felt like capturing the story of two friends I’d known forever. (But not through my lens, through two amazing shooters that I hired to take on my role. 😉)
A Beautiful Start to a Fall Day
The morning began with gorgeous detail shots including rings, florals, invitations, and all the carefully chosen elements that set the tone for the day. Soon after, the bridesmaids gathered in their matching PJ sets, ready to pop some champagne and kick off the celebration. Lauren went outside with the bottle to make sure she didn’t make a mess inside the venue.
Lauren slipped into her dress inside The Octagon House, and let me tell you, her getting-ready photos are stunning. The lighting from the main walk-in door was unreal, and Tonia posed her perfectly. She has so many beautiful portraits in that space that choosing favorites made it just that harder!
Before heading outside, Lauren shared an emotional first look with her dad. Lots of tears were shed. First looks are so WORTH it my friends…ahh! I love them all! 🧡
Wedding Party Portraits at The Octagon House
Both the bridesmaids and groomsmen took their portraits right outside the wedding venue, and it was the perfect backdrop. The architecture, the fall color, the soft afternoon light made these pictures come together effortlessly.
Lauren and Jacob decided not to do a first look, so the anticipation built all afternoon as everyone prepared for the ceremony.
An Outdoor Ceremony Framed by Fall Color
The ceremony took place outdoors in a gorgeous open area of the property, surrounded by fall trees glowing with color. It was positioned just south of the main barn, which held the reception underneath its covered lower level. (If you look at photos of the barn, you’ll see exactly what I mean; it’s such a cool setup!)
Somewhere in the upper barn area, Lauren and her dad shared their first look earlier in the day, making the whole location feel even more meaningful to them.
A Fun Reception at The Octagon House
This wedding couple made their way into the reception area at the venue and started their first dance. At one part of the evening, Tonia and Mikayla took Jacob and Lauren outdoors to capture some sunset portraits. Can’t miss an opportunity like that! ☀️ …especially, with a great view! With all great reception venues comes a patio area for cocktails but also for dancing outside. What a fun atmosphere Lauren and Jacob provided for their friends and family! Their wedding day was heartfelt, joyful, emotional, and absolutely beautiful from start to finish. This venue offered endless photo opportunities, and the love these two share made every moment shine.
