Your wedding day is a HUGE planning process and the one important thing to remember is to make sure that day represents YOU as a couple. What are special things that have significant worth to you that may have to do with family members, or maybe you has a couple? Think about it for just a minute. Do you have a close relationship with your grandma? If so, maybe consider wearing one of her pieces of jewelry. How about a close aunt or uncle? How can you incorporate THEM on your special day? Maybe it’s as simple as asking them to open the doors at the back of the church right before you walk down the aisle. I want to make sure that my couples know why details are important on your wedding day!
Choose What Speaks To You
I have photographed weddings where couples have incorporated other types of details. For example, one fall wedding, the couple “planted” and watered a special tree that was gifted to them from a grandmother during their ceremony. However, it doesn’t have to be this specific. You can find an idea that is significant to you that is worthy of someone you love or want to honor. Choosing a special song for your ceremony music that happens to be the same song your grandparents used during their wedding is also a fun way to include more details.
Don’t Leave Out the Traditional Details
The other fine details that cannot be forgotten are the traditional things like the invitation suite, the rings, the bouquet, the dress and the jewelry. Shooting details is one of my favorite things to capture on wedding day. I always start all of my weddings this way, so I can get my creative juices flowing in that first hour. Make sure you have ALL of these details ready to go when I arrive on your wedding day. It makes the timeline run smoothly and allows me to begin your day the RIGHT away. *THIS IS BIG! A lot of brides forget about this…if you are a bridesmaid reading this, get a nice box or container so the bride can put everything in one box! She will appreciate it and so will any photographer! 😉
Even though these details may be a small part of the overall day, they are just as important when telling the story of my couples, especially in the photo album. Can you imagine, months after your wedding, looking through your album and the first spread is ALL of these images? It’s all right there, your entire wedding day all within one spread! This just proves why details are important on your wedding day!
