One of the best things about living in northwest Ohio is the abundance of so many gorgeous locations for family sessions! Whether you are interested in having your pictures taken at the beach, a large field, or a local park, I have many years of experience working with families in this area. These are my top ten family session locations for northwest Ohio, including Lindsay, Gibsonburg, Toledo, and Findlay.
Silver Rock Quarry, Gibsonburg, Ohio
I call this location the “hidden beach” of Gibsonburg, Ohio! When I was first introduced to the Silver Rock Quarry, I was AMAZED! From the “white beach” area (because it’s technically not a beach) to the green landscape that is everywhere. This location is perfect for any type of photos such as seniors, families, and engagements! This quarry consists of 100 acres of clear blue water and a 1.1-mile out-and-back trail to walk your pets.

The Sun’s Flower Fields, Lindsey, Ohio
Located in Lindsey, Ohio, this is a BEAUTIFUL place during the summer to take photos! The Sun’s Flowers Fields create a lovely setting for family sessions. However, of the nature of these flowers, those blooms are only open for a short amount of time. It is usually the last weekend in July. This farm is not only family-owned (which I love and support! 💛), but consists of fun, family-oriented activities during the summer months. There are around fifty acres of fresh sunflowers and it’s a sight worth seeing, let me tell ya! 👌🏼

Heidelberg University, Tiffin, Ohio
Heidelberg University is one of two universities in Tiffin, Ohio. It has beautiful architecture for any season in Ohio. In the winter, it is perfect because you have beautiful stone work in the background of your images (especially with snow) and in the summer time, the greens create the perfect touch to your family photos.

The Orchard, Port Clinton, Ohio
Established in 2014, The Orchard on Catawba Island (also known as Port Clinton, Ohio) features local food and handcrafted cocktails. You can also do some shopping at the Farm Stand, the COOP or Bar & Table. Not only are the food & drinks amazing, but the landscape outside this local business is stunning. It’s definitely a local treat you want to check out! It has become one of the perfect spots for family photos! 😉 Why not make a family date night out of it?!

Creek Bend Farm, Lindsey, Ohio
Small town Lindsey, Ohio has two “staple locations” that are perfect for any occasion! Creek Bend Farm is one of these places. It has more of a “country” and “nature” feel with two red barns on site and a creek you can walk in.
The second place in Lindsey is The North Coast Inland Trail, the bike path that goes from Bellevue, Ohio all the way to Elmore, Ohio. The part of this trail that runs through Lindsey is perfect for photos. The line of trees and the filtered light make for perfect backdrops. 👌🏼

Oak Openings, Toledo, Ohio
This is one of eighteen metro parks in the Toledo, Ohio area. With it’s 5,000 acres, Oak Openings is the largest metro park and creates so many portrait possibilities. From the Mallard Lake Loop to the bridge, this location is perfect for any type of photo whether it’s families or high school seniors.

East Harbor State Park
Want beach family photos? This is THE PLACE! East Harbor State Park sits on a peninsula against Lake Erie and is next to a marsh zone. There is a large beach area popular for swimming. Have your family portraits taken at this place during the golden hours of the summer and you will have a gorgeous session! 😍 I could rave about this location all day! It’s definitely at the top of my list.

The Hancock Hotel, Findlay, Ohio
This spot is in downtown Findlay and is located on the campus of Marathon Petroleum Corporation, LP and is beautiful inside and out! The Hancock Hotel features a very classic and stylish lobby which is perfect for the winter months and or rainy Ohio days. The outside of the hotel is just has pretty! I shot some wedding photos there this past fall, but it’s also a nice location for a family session.

The Hayes Center, Fremont, Ohio
This former home of Rutherford B. Hayes (our 19th U.S. President) holds 25 plus acres and is a staple to Fremont, Ohio. Also known as Spiegel Grove, The Hayes Center, offers very large trees in a heavy wooded area. It also provides a nice paved path all around the grounds which is great for runners, walkers and photographers. 😉

The Christy House, Fremont, Ohio
This beautiful home is a prime example of Colonial Revival architecture. The Christy House was built by the Christy Family back in 1929 with seven bedrooms and a separate two-bedroom apartment. The unspoiled Christy Farm Nature Preserve surrounds the home. The architecture inside and out of this home is just one you have to see! In fact, let’s do a family session there and we can both check it out together! ☺️
