Maria and Nick had a lovely fall wedding at The Village Barn in Monroeville, Ohio! It was a very full day of portraits and events as their celebration took place the last weekend before Daylight Savings Time and we had a tight schedule. However, the day went smoothly with an enthusiastic couple and a fun wedding party! 💃🏻
A Colorful Fall Wedding
The wedding took place at The First Presbyterian Church in Clyde, Ohio. I loved shooting Maria and Nick’s details at the church while they were getting ready. It’s always challenging to find a good location for a wedding dress portrait, but the beautiful stained glass window was the perfect spot. 👌🏼 The yellow and pink stained glass complimented the bright colors of yellow, cranberry, and robin’s egg blue that Maria chose for the wedding. The flowers included roses, sunflowers, and daisies and perfectly matched the pine green of the bridesmaids’ dresses. Maria wore a white robe while getting her makeup done that had the wedding day, the words “I do”, and her initials embroidered with the same color as the green dresses.
Nick and Maria chose not to do a first look before the ceremony, so after everyone was ready, Maria and I headed to the sanctuary for a few portraits of her and the bridal party. The couple had a lovely but simple church ceremony which included some beautiful music from a violinist and Maria and Nick lighting a unity candle. After the ceremony, the couple was greeted outside by wedding guests giving them a bubble exit. The wedding party and family went back inside where we shot the remainder of the portraits at the front of the church.
The couple chose to have their reception celebration at The Village Barn. This relatively new wedding venue is quickly becoming popular and I have enjoyed shooting weddings here! 🤩 Close to the venue is a nice brick road that I always like to take the wedding party for portraits. Unfortunately, it was a very gloomy day but everyone (and everything) made up for it and we had a great time! By this time, the sun had set and we headed to Maria and Nick’s house. They wanted to take a few photos in front of the house and on their back patio. They had some pretty strung lights that made for a nice background and I captured some off-camera flash images. We had one more place to visit and that was Havana Tavern.
Cheers to the Bride and Groom!
I love supporting local businesses and this was a fun quick trip for the wedding party! Havana Tavern is a local “hole in the wall” place in Monroeville/Willard, Ohio. Maria and Nick pinned a wedding koozie to the bar’s ceiling, a tradition there when you get married. 🍻 The bridesmaids and groomsmen drank a shot to cheer Maria and Nick. Any town or a city needs to keep fun wedding traditions like this alive! After our stop at the tavern, we headed back to the reception venue. The couple had a great evening of dinner, dancing, guests using the photo booth, and great music from the DJ. He brought out the light-up foam wands which got everyone having a good time! Nick and Maria had their guests autograph a large wooden sign for their guestbook. They also had special wine glasses made for all of their guests.
A wedding tradition that has become popular is a “trash the wedding” shot! It involves taking elements from the wedding day including a koozie, a beer can, the wedding rings, a slice of cake, and any other items that I can think of. It’s an interesting and artistic way of showing what happened during the wedding day. ☺️
Congratulations to Maria and Nick on their special celebration and fall wedding at The Village Barn! May you both have a happy life together! Let’s start planning your wedding! Send me an email to check my schedule for a date.
