The weather was beautiful for Rachel and Matthew’s fall wedding at The Hancock Hotel in Findlay, Ohio! Not only were they a pleasure to work with for their wedding photography, but they also gave me the honor of designing their wedding invites. The grounds of the hotel had several great spots for portraits throughout the day. Rachel and Matthew were so genuine, kind, and respectful and they made my job so easy throughout the entire process.
This is one of two weddings this year for which I designed invites for the couple. For those of you who do not know, I’m also a graphic designer and LOVE designing things. I always get excited when a couple reaches out to me to ask about planning their wedding invitation suite. It’s just a small part of being creative that goes right along with my photography skills. I love combining the two!
Located in the heart of downtown Findlay, Ohio, The Hancock Hotel is so pretty, inside and out! When it comes to being a one-stop shop for your wedding planning, The Hancock Hotel is there to meet all of your needs. They offer premier catering services, a complimentary hotel room for the bride and groom, and unmatched hospitality to make sure any wedding goes smoothly. With a beautiful lobby, a well-designed valet parking drop-off, the stonework on the exterior to the landscaping outside, this hotel has it all!
The hotel features a very classic but stylish lobby and creates a lovely setting for wedding portraits. The weather was superb so we did not have to take any portraits inside, even though we could have! We shot at the front of the hotel for the groomsmen, the side of the hotel for the bridesmaids, and even the PURE WHITE, clean, cement floor at the top of the parking garage. That may sound like a strange location, but the tan color of cement reflects skin tons just PERFECTLY. 👌🏼 Anytime I have wedding portraits, I will always choose good, clean, white cement for my foreground over grass. The background needs to be pretty of course.
For the bridal party, Rachel chose a burgundy color for the dresses which made for the perfect fall color. Rachel and Matthew decided to do a first look, which I HIGHLY encourage couples to do! This adds to the amount of portraits you and your new spouse get to have throughout the day and it gets you to the reception faster! In addition to shooting around the town and in front of the hotel, we went up to the top of the parking garage to take advantage of the wide open space and the light! We were able to shoot all of the wedding party and couples portraits before the ceremony.
During the ceremony, Rachel and Matthew participated in a special “tying of the knot”, which signifies that they are no longer two, but one. There was a nice spot right outside the ceremony area in front of the hotel where I shot family portraits. This sidewalk included enough room for posing the extended family groups.
The cocktail hour soon concluded and the reception started. A HUGE shout-out goes to the wedding venue staff for quickly flipping the room from the ceremony to the reception! A job well done!!! 👏🏼 The hotel provided so many people to help and the wedding coordinator that night was great. It all turned out beautiful. Rachel and Matthew’s fall wedding at The Hancock Hotel in Findlay, Ohio was truly a special day for an amazing couple! I can’t wait to photograph another wedding here soon! 📸
