I love capturing family photos for my sweet clients, especially when they’re my own family! This was such a fun sunflower session in northwest Ohio for my cousins, The Mahnke Family. Not only did I enjoy capturing these precious memories for them, but it gave me a chance to show off the Turnow family’s The Sun Flower Field.

This family farm in Lindsey, Ohio, is a sunflower farm that consists of fifty acres! I absolutely love this idea! It’s all so special, especially cause I know what it takes to own and manage a business. There is so much hard work and energy that goes into it. This beautiful sunflower farm and land started just last year. Craig Turnow and his dad have planted sunflowers for the last seven years, but three years ago, the business really evolved. They noticed when they planted these flowers, they were attracting people like no other! They eventually decided to open the field to the public by charging a small fee and including a really fun wagon ride through the flowers.

Their new business, The Suns Flower, has become very popular – attracting photographers, children, and even families for a nice evening to hang out. Visitors are able to purchase sunflowers by the stem and take photos in different areas. The Turnows provide old couches, a pretend tea party, and an overlook as cute setups for pictures. Three years later, it has grown into so much more!

This year, the village of Lindsey hosted its first annual Lindsey Sunflower Homecoming Festival. The event was held during the weekend of July 29th-August 1st in Lindsey, Ohio. This festival consisted of all sorts of things, such as a 5K, food trucks, live music, bingo, a cornhole tournament, and the opportunity to venture among the beautiful sunflowers.

Lindsey, Ohio may be a small town, but this is amazing! The town has such great ideas – I hope they keep growing!!
